Prepare sequential data
Collect token-level or sentence-level labelled sequences, apply consistent tokenisation and convert tokens to integer IDs or embeddings.
Bi-directional LSTM for NLP. Assess sequence prediction quality.
A bi-directional LSTM processes token sequences forwards and backwards to capture context on both sides of each token. Typical uses include sequence tagging, named-entity recognition and sequence-to-sequence tasks; common failure modes are class imbalance, long-range dependencies, tokenisation mismatch and domain shift.

A proposed extension: a named-entity recogniser for domain-specific text (for example, medical notes or legal clauses) that highlights uncertain spans for human review. The supplied starter does not implement this and the human reviewer must remain in charge for sensitive decisions.
Collect token-level or sentence-level labelled sequences, apply consistent tokenisation and convert tokens to integer IDs or embeddings.
Implement a PyTorch model with an embedding layer and a bi-directional LSTM encoder, followed by a task-specific head (CRF, linear classifier or decoder).
Train with an appropriate loss (cross-entropy or tokenwise loss), use validation for early stopping, and log token-level metrics such as F1 and sequence accuracy.
Analyse confusions, unknown tokens and long-range failures, then deploy with monitoring and a human-in-the-loop review for critical outputs.
The supplied starter creates a synthetic numeric classification dataset with scikit-learn's make_classification, builds a Pipeline that scales features and fits a RandomForestClassifier, then prints a classification report. It contains no LSTM, no sequence or text data, and uses no deep-learning framework.
model = Pipeline(
steps=[
("scale", StandardScaler()),
("classifier", RandomForestClassifier(n_estimators=250, random_state=RANDOM_STATE)),
]
)The code uses a RandomForest on synthetic numeric features and contains no LSTM layers, no tokenisation or text sequence handling, and no PyTorch/TensorFlow implementation of a bi-directional recurrent model.
Proposed extension: replace the synthetic data with a labelled sequence dataset, implement a PyTorch bi-directional LSTM encoder with an appropriate task head (e.g. token classifier), and add validation, checkpoints and simple monitoring for drift.
This is a potential application pathway, not a delivered product. The supplied starter does not implement this service or validate it with real users.
