Collect and label document samples
Assemble PDFs, contracts and emails; label examples for approval, minor edits, escalation and compliance review, and include OCR errors and redactions.
Assist document approval workflows. Decide if a document passes checks.
A document approval workflow assistant flags documents or change requests that need human review and routes them appropriately. Typical challenges include class imbalance (few rejections), ambiguous language, policy changes, and noisy or truncated text extracted from PDFs or emails.

A document approval workflow assistant flags documents or change requests that need human review and routes them appropriately. Typical challenges include class imbalance (few rejections), ambiguous language, policy changes, and noisy or truncated text extracted from PDFs or emails.
A proposed application: triage incoming policy changes or contract drafts so reviewers focus on high-risk items. The assistant should only suggest priorities; a human reviewer must remain in charge of final approvals and compliance decisions.

Compare TF-IDF and transformer embeddings, and validate that vocabularies are learned from training text only.
Measure precision, recall and AUC for the approval/escale classes and inspect false positives and false negatives to find harmful failure modes.
Expose predictions with confidence scores, example explanations and an override workflow so humans keep final control.
The supplied starter creates a TF-IDF + LogisticRegression pipeline, fits it to six hand-written short sentences with binary labels, prints a classification report on the tiny test split, and shows one sample prediction. It does not use a document corpus, nor implement routing, multi-class approval states, or production APIs.
model = Pipeline(
steps=[
("tfidf", TfidfVectorizer(ngram_range=(1, 2), min_df=1)),
("classifier", LogisticRegression(max_iter=1000)),
]
)
model.fit(X_train, y_train)
predictions = model.predict(X_test)
The starter uses six synthetic sentences that are not actual documents or approval records. The binary labels and two-example test split cannot validate an approval assistant. There is no dataset handling for PDFs, no multi-class routing, no audit logs or deployment code; the starter is a minimal text-classification demo only.
A proposed extension: collect historical approval decisions from a CMS or contract-management system, train a multi-class classifier (approve/edit/escalate), and present high-confidence triage suggestions to reviewers in a dashboard with an audit trail.
This is a potential application pathway, not a delivered product. The supplied starter does not implement this service or validate it with real users.
