Collect and label video frames
Assemble short video clips and label bounding boxes and object IDs across frames for a small validation set before training.
Track objects across frames. Evaluate localisation and identity.
Object tracking links detections of the same physical object across video frames and often requires detection, data association and temporal smoothing. Typical error modes include occlusion, missed detections, identity switches and high latency on long videos.

Object tracking links detections of the same physical object across video frames and often requires detection, data association and temporal smoothing. Typical error modes include occlusion, missed detections, identity switches and high latency on long videos.
A possible application: count and follow objects moving through a fixed camera view for warehouse flow analysis. Any deployment should keep a human in the loop for identity errors and privacy review; the supplied starter does not implement this extension.
Assemble short video clips and label bounding boxes and object IDs across frames for a small validation set before training.
Train or use a pre-trained object detector (e.g. YOLO, Faster R-CNN) to supply per-frame bounding boxes and scores.
Create a simple tracker using IoU or motion models (Kalman filter) plus Hungarian assignment to link detections across frames.
Measure MOTA, ID-switches, IoU and FPS, and inspect failure cases like occlusions and distractors.
The supplied starter loads sklearn's digits classification dataset, splits it, trains a RandomForestClassifier, prints a classification report and displays a confusion matrix. It does not load video, detect objects, or perform any temporal association or tracking.
digits = load_digits()
X_train, X_test, y_train, y_test = train_test_split(
digits.data,
digits.target,
test_size=0.25,
random_state=42,
stratify=digits.target,
)
model = RandomForestClassifier(n_estimators=300, random_state=42)
model.fit(X_train, y_train)The code is a digit-image classification baseline using sklearn's load_digits and RandomForest. It uses static 8×8 images and class labels, so it cannot be used to evaluate or demonstrate object detection, bounding boxes, inter-frame association or any video-tracking behaviour described by the project title.
A proposed extension: replace the digits data with short labelled video clips, apply a pre-trained detector to each frame, then implement a Kalman-filter+Hungarian tracker for identity association to produce per-object tracks.
This is a potential application pathway, not a delivered product. The supplied starter does not implement this service or validate it with real users.
