Collect and label data
Assemble representative logs, network flows or file-metadata and label a small sample of known benign and sensitive events for validation.
Discover suspicious log events. Prioritise analyst review.
Sensitive data discovery aims to find records or events that may contain or expose sensitive information so analysts can inspect and remediate them. In practice this involves feature engineering from logs or content, balancing high recall with manageable analyst workload, and safe handling of any real sensitive content.

Sensitive data discovery aims to find records or events that may contain or expose sensitive information so analysts can inspect and remediate them. In practice this involves feature engineering from logs or content, balancing high recall with manageable analyst workload, and safe handling of any real sensitive content.
A proposed application for security teams: surface anomalous or high-risk records from logs so that a human analyst can inspect and classify them. This prototype is not a complete sensitive-content detector and should not be used to make enforcement or automated policy decisions.
Assemble representative logs, network flows or file-metadata and label a small sample of known benign and sensitive events for validation.
Transform raw events into numeric and categorical features (rates, counts, metadata) and preserve any textual fields separately for content analysis.
Train an anomaly detector or supervised classifier on the numeric features and validate recall on held-out suspicious examples.
Expose alerts with context, suggested tags and an easy correction interface; log human decisions for retraining and auditing.
The supplied starter builds two synthetic numeric DataFrames (300 'normal' rows, 15 'suspicious' rows), concatenates them, fits an IsolationForest with contamination=0.05, and prints the number of rows flagged as anomalies and their head. It does not inspect content for PII or other sensitive fields.
detector = IsolationForest(contamination=0.05, random_state=42)
logs["anomaly_score"] = detector.fit_predict(logs)
alerts = logs[logs["anomaly_score"] == -1]
print(PROJECT_NAME)
print("Alerts generated:", len(alerts))The starter uses synthetic numeric features and an isolation-forest anomaly detector to flag unusual log-like rows; it does not implement content-based sensitive-data detection (for example PII regexes, named-entity recognition or file-content scanning). The tiny synthetic dataset and a single detector run cannot validate precision or recall on real sensitive incidents.
A proposed extension is to combine content scanners (PII regexes, NER models) with supervised labels and anomaly detection, then build an analyst review UI that preserves privacy and records decisions for continual retraining.
This is a potential application pathway, not a delivered product. The supplied starter does not implement this service or validate it with real users.
