Does CCNP Security still exist?
Yes — and this question gets asked constantly, so it is worth answering plainly. Cisco restructured its entire certification programme in February 2020, retiring the old CCNP Security exam set. A lot of outdated commentary online still reads as though the certification itself went away. It did not.
Today CCNP Security takes two exams: SCOR 350-701 as the core — the same core CCIE Security uses — plus one concentration exam of your choosing.
Worth knowing: passing SCOR alone earns the Cisco Certified Specialist – Security Core certification. So the first exam is not all-or-nothing.
Which concentration should you pick?

Do you need CCNA Security or CCNP Enterprise first?
CCNA Security no longer exists — it was retired in the same 2020 restructure and folded into the current CCNA. If a course is still selling you CCNA Security, that is a signal about the course.
Cisco requires no formal prerequisite for CCNP Security. Practically you want CCNA-level networking plus some firewall exposure, because SCOR moves quickly through ASA and Firepower deployment and assumes routing and VLANs are already comfortable.
You do not need CCNP Enterprise. The two are parallel professional tracks, not sequential ones.

When this is the wrong course for you
- You are aiming at CCIE Security eventually and have the time now. SCOR is the shared core — going straight into the CCIE track avoids paying twice for overlapping material.
- Your environment is Palo Alto or Fortinet rather than Cisco. PCNSE or NSE 4 will serve you better.
- You want SESA, SWSA or SAUTO as your concentration. Those are introduced but not taught to exam depth here.
- You need US placement support. This is a certification course.
